P8.3M worth of shabu declared as bearings seized in inbound shipment from Uganda

THE Bureau of Customs – Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA) has seized an abandoned inbound shipment containing more than 1,200 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, or “shabu,” following an inspection at a Warehouse on May 19, 2026.

The shipment, which arrived in March 2026, originated from Uganda and was consigned to a recipient in Cavite, consisted of two packages declared as “Auto Gear Bearings (Parts for Machines).” Upon physical examination, Customs authorities discovered approximately 1,234 grams of suspected shabu concealed within the parcels, with an estimated standard value of ₱8,391,200.

Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno commended the operating units involved, underscoring the Bureau’s firm stance against drug smuggling and its continued efforts to enhance border protection in support of the directive of Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to intensify anti-smuggling operations, reinforce port security, and sustain the campaign against illegal drugs and other illicit goods.

The seized contraband was immediately turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for laboratory examination, case build-up, and appropriate legal proceedings in accordance with existing customs laws, rules, and regulations.
